Counselling is a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals, families, and groups to accomplish mental health, wellness, education, and career goals. Counseling involves helping people make needed changes in the ways they think, feel and choose.
Purpose of counseling- is a process of talking about and working through your personal problems with a counsellor. The counsellor helps you to address your problems in a positive way by helping you to clarify the issues, explore options, develop strategies and increase self-awareness
Below you will find the services I offer for adults and adolescents
Remember how when we were young how all we ever wanted was to be grown up? And guess what? We now wish differently as growing up is seeming harder than we thought it would be. Maybe you are feeling stuck and needing tools and techniques to help you find your thought and way again.
Maybe you’ve had a rough time and your mood has become low and you’d like some help lifting yourself up. Maybe your relationship has had some challenges and you’ve run out of options and you are in need of a listening ear. Come talk. I will listen. And help create a climate where you can examine your thoughts, feelings and actions and be empowered to find the best solutions for you.
Adolescence is a time of both opportunities and risks- like opportunity to find your identity or risks of identity confusion. Either way I remember it being a time of high stress, anxiety and peer pressure.
Teenage life is full of all sorts of pressure, and I’d be happy to empower your children with the knowledge to make good choices in their own lives and acquire/adapt skills to create healthy relationship with themselves, their families, and their friends
What kind of areas could we work on?
Anxiety, Adjustment to life changes, Anger management, Behavioural difficulties, Communication problems, Coping skills, Depression, Fear, Grief, Goal setting, Marital difficulties, Parenting, Personal growth, Relationship challenges, Self-esteem and self- confidence, Stress management, Peer pressure/Bullying, Social difficulties, Time management, Trauma
My Approach
Counselling is never a one-size-fits-all approach, and our first consultation will usually be a chat about where you are and where you’d like to be. It is so important that you find someone you can connect with and to whom you can speak openly and honestly. We then decide whereto from here, and mutually agree a general plan to get there.
My unique counselling and teaching style caters to adolescents and adults, providing a tailored approach to suit their needs.
These days ‘adulting’ has become so real to many of us in ways we never imagined. Therefore being able to connect with adults at their various life stages and assist them navigate through their thoughts, emotions and choices with tools and techniques that will help make their life journey better manageable, makes my day in counselling.
On the other hand I have found the adolescent phase to be quite inspiring to me, it being a phase that can be challenging as one tries to find who they are (identity) and figure out where one’s going (purpose). I experience so many adolescents to be teachable and inquisitively eager to learn, and this makes me enjoy engaging with them and guiding where I can.
